The Exchange at Georgia Tech’s mission is to amplify the impact of Georgia Tech’s transdisciplinary pursuits through the collaborative exchange of scalable climate solutions. The Exchange at Georgia Tech aspires to be a hub for

  1. creating accessible climate technologies,

  2. developing service-oriented climate leaders, and

  3. advancing cross-sector climate collaboration with global impact.

Background

Following a two-year competitive process, in April 2023 the Stony Brook University-led proposal to establish The New York Climate Exchange (“The Exchange”) was selected to develop a center for climate solutions on Governors Island. The Exchange is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that seeks to be a global hub that leverages the collective power of education, research, workforce development, policy development, and public programming to advance climate action at the local, national, and global level. The Exchange’s facilities will serve as a model for sustainability.

The Georgia Institute of Technology is one of nine Core Partners in The Exchange. This effort advances Georgia Tech’s commitment to lead by example, showing our global partners and peers the pivotal role of the Southeast region of the United States in advancing equitable and innovative climate solutions worldwide. The Exchange at Georgia Tech is an embodiment of our duties as a Core Partner in The Exchange.

Around The Blue

Georgia Tech's Annalisa Bracco was the scientific advisor for Around the Blue, a docufilm on ocean sustainability following Giovanni Soldini as he sailed around the world. The film will be presented at the Venice Film Festival (Saturday, Sep 7) and released on Amazon towards the end of this year. The film is endorsed by the UN for the Ocean Decade.

For now, the film is in Italian. An English version will be released soon.

The New York Climate Exchange

The New York Climate Exchange's future home will be on Governors Island. Located off the southern tip of Manhattan, the island is a short ferry ride to Wall Street and the United Nations. This location provides The Exchange a unique position from which to support education, research, innovation and commercialization, workforce development, and public programming. Before construction begins, The Exchange will host activities both on Governors Island and in partner locations that prepare local and global communities to respond to climate challenges.

The Exchange at Georgia Tech - Dr. Shannon Yee.

The Exchange at Georgia Tech provides a nexus for the extended work of The New York Climate Exchange on our Atlanta campus and a regional hub for the expanded work of The New York Climate Exchange throughout the southeastern United States, as well as at our campus in Metz, France. As new efforts and innovative solutions arise on our campuses, The Exchange at Georgia Tech will be the pathway for amplified impact through The New York Climate Exchange.

As The New York Climate Exchange aspires to expand its reach and deepen its impact in the years ahead, The Exchange at Georgia Tech will be the anchor point for further engagement of our local, regional, and global communities, partners, and stakeholders
